Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 Will Not Have Extra Content Will you still be buying?

Fans of the Yakuza series were very much excited when the remasters for Yakuza 3, Yakuza 4, and Yakuza 5 were coming to the PlayStation 4 in the West. Several Twitter users began asking if the remasters would have any extra content in the games. Whether it be extra scenes or just some extra options as far as gameplay goes. SEGA’s chief creative officer Toshihiro Nagoshi addressed these questions but not to the satisfaction of the fans. He announced there would be no extra content in the remaster of the games.

Most fans of the series would have welcomed additional content in the remasters. However, Nagoshi-son has said that due to the resurgence of popularity with Yakuza 0 and most recently Yakuza 6 and the great sales they’ve seen in the West that it only made sense to bring the fans the rest of the story. That’s right, the remasters are aimed more for the audience that hasn’t played them before and for the hardcore fans of the series alike.

For more information on the success of the Yakuza series in the West, we have to look no farther than the NPD’s. When Yakuza 6 launched in the United States last month, it did with great fanfare. You could easily tell that fans were eagerly waiting to get their hands on the latest title in the franchise. They were so eager that Yakuza 6 placed 17th in the top 20 best-selling games of the month. Now, I know most are going to read that and think that 17 out of 20 isn’t that great, but it’s the best any Yakuza game has done in the West. Making it the most successful Western release for the series. With this success, it was a no brainer for Nagoshi-son to commit to bringing the remaining titles in the series to the PlayStation 4.

With the recent news are you still excited to get your hands on the upcoming remasters? Have you played them before or are you completely new to the series? I for one will be there on launch day with each of the titles to secure my copy. For more information on Yakuza remasters stick with My Planet Playstation.
