Awkward Review Are you prepared to feel a little Awkward???

This product was reviewed on a PlayStation 4 Pro and is also available on Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. A code was provided to me for review purposes.

Awkward is a party game with the likes of Cards against Humanity and the sort. You are trying to determine how the rest of the world answered each question and sometimes those questions can seem downright odd or offensive to some. You can have 1-6 players where you can play as teams or have random opponents. When you play as a team or randomly you will be trying to guess what your partner chose the answer to be. Trying to end the game with the highest percentage right as possible.

The gameplay with Awkward is pretty straightforward. You will be presented a question and two possible answers. If playing solo, you will be trying to choose the best answer that the rest of the world chose and if playing as a duo, team, or random opponents you will be trying to choose the answer in which your partner answered his/her question. As you can tell this makes for a great party game when friends and family are over. Testing each person’s ability to answer the question honestly while in the presence of  their friends or significant other. Some questions can easily embarrass, possibly offend, or just make you sit back and scratch your head as to why someone would be asking such an odd question. I completed the game 100% according to the trophies and doing so, had to answer 1000 questions. During that time of being presented with 1000 questions, there were literally only 2-3 repeat questions. That shows to me that the creators of the game cared enough to make sure there were enough randomized questions in the database to make sure you could have a night of fun without just answering the same questions over and over again.

You will be given 4 questions for round 1 and round 2 and for the final round you are presented with 2 questions. After the final score is tallied you are presented with the ability to rematch with the same people who just previously played or you are able to go back to the main menu, where you can select new players or a different style to play.

This game as you can see is very simplistic with its graphics. Of course, a card type game doesn’t really need to be anything other than fun. During the middle of each round you will be shown your conformity percentage of the questions so far answered. This graphic is depicting the painting The Creation of Adam. You will either be given your score based on the rest of the world or your team/opponents.

The sounds of the game are quite pleasant. The music in the background isn’t too abrupt or soft. If you happen to match your partner/opponent or the rest of the world you may hear a faint voice saying “how cute” and other remarks. The best part is when you miss the answer and you will have a picture of an older man pop on the screen and scream “Awkward”, obviously due to the same title of the game. There are different pop ins and sayings the old man will do when missing a question.

If you are looking for a party game that will test friendships and show your ability to face tough decisions then this is the game for you. This game will ask you questions you never thought possible and some you wish that were never possible. It would be a great game to have at a family gathering or inviting your friends over to put them to the test. Definitely recommend this title for anyone out there looking for a fun and hilarious time with your friends or family.
